He says that patience is the number one virtue that a startup advisor must possess, but that you also can’t be too sensitive. He says that because smaller companies are often moving at a breakneck pace to accomplish their goals, they may ask for your advice in a particular area, but never actually utilize that advice as a result of oversight. John explains that maintaining a level head and being patient with employees is paramount to being a good advisor.
