For instance, more people had to switch to working from home.\u00a0Companies\u00a0with digital tools and platforms aimed at remote workers suddenly found themselves experiencing greater success \u2014 and Zoom completely\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/351597\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"follow noopener noreferrer\">surpassed earnings expectations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, there&#8217;s more going on with\u00a0consumer behavior\u00a0that may impact revenue growth. Here\u2019s how\u00a0entrepreneurs\u00a0can leverage that change.<\/p>\n<h2>Consumers became even more concerned about their health<\/h2>\n<p>Without the commute and with the addition of a flexible <a href=\"https:\/\/jboitnott.com\/zh\/creating-a-remote-work-policy-where-to-start\/\">remote work<\/a> schedule, gym closures\u00a0and more time to think about their health, consumers turned their attention to\u00a0at-home fitness routines. Publishers of\u00a0YouTube\u00a0workout and yoga routines saw their views go from hundreds to hundreds of thousands\u00a0as people sought new ways to work out. Stationary bike maker\u00a0Peloton\u00a0saw its\u00a0sales\u00a0go through the roof.\u00a0Home gym manufacturers\u00a0couldn\u2019t keep up with demand.<\/p>\n<p>Companies that might have only reached out to customers through a physical location might want to consider concentrating more on wearable or digital products.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/decemberlabs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">December Labs<\/a>\u00a0assists such companies in health and fitness by developing apps and software solutions for fitness wearables or fitness equipment integration. It also helps businesses identify and track relevant trends that support their \u201cnew normal\u201d product strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The design and development company works to create solutions that improve digital health service delivery, provide sleep support, offer breast health monitoring, or track biometric fitness data. The company helped Biostrap, a smart wearable device, improve its app experience for heart, sleep, and activity monitoring. The product records advanced biometric data for personalized health and fitness insights.<\/p>\n<h2>Consumer Behavior: Playing more games on mobile devices<\/h2>\n<p>Games aren\u2019t just for kids. In fact, an increasingly wider demographic has been playing\u00a0<a class=\"auto-tagged ga-click ai-metadata\" href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/topic\/mobile-games\" data-ga-category=\"autotag-linking\" data-ga-label=\"ai-metadata\" data-ga-action=\"\/topic\/mobile-games\">mobile games<\/a>. But when your potential customers are playing games on their phone, they won\u2019t likely notice your ad campaigns on Facebook and elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>According to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/go.sensortower.com\/rs\/351-RWH-315\/images\/Sensor-Tower-Q1-2020-Data-Digest.pdf?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiWldJMU1XSTVNalJsTkRjeCIsInQiOiJhbHBhNHJadFl5cGtGbTZrT2QxSXRXRlBRMXd0a2tSQ0UyOG5QOFwvNjBJZlRjQnI3N2pvWEJ3UzZ0RHZWaHl3SkxXTHN0XC9DWk8zWFwvU3E5K1wvK3lpNitcL285S2dyMDNLK3JkeDFFTVBFNXB6cXhHUkhnTkpaOFZGZFRnOHpmMjdiIn0%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">SensorTower report<\/a>, game downloads surpassed 13 billion across the App Store and Google Play for the first time during the first part of 2020. They increased over two billion compared to the previous record quarter. The report also found that the most popular game downloads were those that connected people remotely.\u00a0 Other popular game downloads offered a social component, such as Words With Friends 2 and Scrabble Go. Also, popular sandbox games like Roblox and Minecraft grew in use. This is primarily due to kids and teens being stuck at home with more free time.<\/p>\n<h3>Games used for online concerts<\/h3>\n<p>Another trend in consumer behavior is that games are being used for more than just gameplay. For example, the Travis Scott concert in Fortnite and the <a class=\"auto-tagged ga-click ai-metadata\" href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/topic\/lady-gaga\" data-ga-category=\"autotag-linking\" data-ga-label=\"ai-metadata\" data-ga-action=\"\/topic\/lady-gaga\">Lady Gaga<\/a>\u00a0concert in Roblox each attracted millions of people, indicating that people use gaming platforms to socialize, buy things\u00a0and educate and entertain themselves in multiple ways.<\/p>\n<h3>In-game ads<\/h3>\n<p>Companies like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/admixplay.com\/advertisers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Admix<\/a> are helping startups and globally recognized brands reach elusive segments of their target audiences through non-intrusive in-game ads. In addition to mobile games, other gaming platforms, including desktop computers can display these ads. Gaming consoles and virtual reality devices can too. They\u2019re GDPR-compliant and offer targeted approaches to connecting with specific audience segments based on their preferred gameplay.<\/p>\n<p>For example, National Geographic wanted to promote season two of its\u00a0<i>Mars<\/i> show. They wanted to do it through a mobile campaign to reach a demographic of men ages 24 to 35. Leveraging the company\u2019s gaze-tracking technology made for immersive environments like gameplay, Admix found VR apps that aligned with the target audience. The resulting campaign reached nearly 200,000 VR app users in the U.S. and delivered 235,000 impressions.<\/p>\n<h2>Consumer Behavior: Finding ways to &#8220;discover&#8221; new products<\/h2>\n<p>The pandemic has also altered consumer behavior related to grocery shopping. For example, food and snack brands have relied on product placement in stores to trigger impulse buys of new items. Yet many consumers may not see those for quite some time.<\/p>\n<p>Following shelter-in-place orders, many customers now rely on shopping and delivery services like Instacart, Shipt, and Postmates. Consequently, consumers may not be as readily aware of new products. These food and snack brands also face pressure from online retailers like Amazon.<\/p>\n<p>This may be the time to migrate to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/foodinstitute.com\/focus\/pivoting-to-dtc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) model.<\/a> Large consumer food, beverage, and snack manufacturers have already launched their own DTC websites to go beyond retail stores and reach the online consumer looking for new or favorite perishable products.<\/p>\n<p>Companies like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.portobel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Portobel<\/a> cut out the middleman and let wholesalers sell directly to customers. This is ideal for smaller food and snack companies. Such companies may not have the resources to launch significant marketing campaigns and develop their own eCommerce platforms. The company covers all aspects of the DTC model. This ranges from offering ready-made, customizable eCommerce platforms, and specialty packaging, to a delivery process that uses advanced technology.<\/p>\n<p>Portobel\u2019s DTC model includes a machine learning solution for planning packaging, shipping, and delivery. The company uses a Temp Tracker in its delivery vehicles to send temperature and location data back to the wholesaler throughout the shipment journey. This way, they know how their products are being handled and are assured that customers get solid service.<\/p>\n<h2>Opportunities await<\/h2>\n<p>Shifting consumer behavior should not be viewed as a challenge.
