Every year in early February a good majority of Americans gather in their living rooms and sit down to watch the NFL Super Bowl. Many come for the football but I have a feeling that even more come for the commercials. It's widely known that the best and funniest commercials throughout the year first air during the big game.
It's also no surprise to hear that a 30 second ad spot will run nearly $2.7 million this year (and many companies run more than one spot). Every year advertisers jump on the occasion to reach millions and millions (over 100 million last year) viewers at time. And who can blame them.
It's always interesting for me to see which companies decide to run an ad. In this case an internet company that sells a tangible item. It's a funny cycle to me, use old media to get users on to their website to then get them into their physical stores. Either way, here is one of the two ads that they'll be running next week and I find it pretty darned hilarious. Also, here is a quote from the President of Cars.com, Mitch Golub.
“Advertising in the Super Bowl is a proven investment, which is why we’re returning. The massive audience gives tremendous lift to our business, and as we continue to grow Cars.com and our offerings to car shoppers, it’s paramount that we devote our resources to avenues that will continue our trajectory as the fastest-growing brand in our category.”
